Welcome Back to the Wild 🐺

This is the largest update In the Wild has ever had, and it’s just the beginning.
We’ve been quietly rebuilding the game from the ground up – and today, we’re finally ready to release the next update to In the Wild.

Major Features & Improvements

  • All-New Visuals: Upgraded environment and animal models, improved lighting, shadow quality, and foliage to bring the island to life.
  • Narrated Fact Orbs: Discover 144 (and counting) real-world animal facts, each read aloud as you collect them.
  • Smarter Animal Behavior: Animals now live, roam, and react to each other naturally – creating a living world around you.
  • Dynamic Time & Weather: Watch the world shift from day to night with changing weather – or sync it to your local real-world time for full immersion.
  • Custom Soundtrack: Listen to original tracks by WesWolf Productions while you explore.
  • Controller Support: Still a work in progress, but the game should be fully playable with almost a steam-supported controller.
  • New Factbook UI: Track your collection progress, revisit facts, and unlock achievements for each animal.

What is In the Wild?

In the Wild is a peaceful, educational game where you play as real forest animals and explore a massive island to learn real facts hidden across the environment. There are no enemies, no combat – just you, the wild, and knowledge waiting to be uncovered.

What’s Next?

While we remain in Early Access, we will continue using player feedback to shape the future of the game. We have plans to implement more environments with more species, facts, and ways to immerse yourself with the natural world. We currently do NOT plan to add survival aspects to In the Wild outside of animal AI, as we feel that would take away from the relaxed and educational nature of the game. However, we do plan on adding in mini-games that may include some survival aspects.

While we continue to develop the In the Wild, we hope to receive player feedback and creative ideas on what to do with the future of the game. Thank you everyone for your interest and support, and we hope you enjoy this new update!
